VGM Jams NYC
Live video game music jam sessions in NYC!
VGM Jam Sessions NYC is a grassroots community that seeks to partner with NYC venues to provide, cultivate, and preserve an environment where people from all walks of life can express their love for music, videogames and the intersection of two by performing, arranging, and listening to classic and contemporary Video Game Music (VGM) together. VGM, a genre that now spans over 40 years, contains aesthetic and cultural references to countless global music styles. Moreover, nearly half the world's population (3.3 billion people) identify as current or former gamers making video games one of the most widespread hobbies on earth. Our overarching goal is to raise musical awareness, interest, and ideally practice by way of video games.
Our mission is to host recurring concerts and jam sessions which foster collaboration between professional artists, hobbyists, and video game lovers. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds and age groups and emphasize a safe and nurturing space. Our current environment reflects a diverse community not only in social and ethnic backgrounds but also professional. Everyone from students and public school educators to top call, Grammy-winning musicians regularly participate in our monthly jam session. Our event breaks down barriers between hobbyists and professionals and unites them through a mutual affinity for video game music. "
